Cathy Lawley Clay artist Cathy Lawley has lived in Maleny for most of her life. Where, as well as raising her four children she continued to produce her signature pottery pieces. Cathy is predominately self taught and is best known for her whimsical frogs, dangling from buckets or hopping on teapots and taps or aged fence posts. Her recent series of chooks on ladders known as “Hens Night Out” are fast becoming another of her delightful collectables. Cathy is an award winning pottery artist, she creates her beautiful pieces from her stunning sandstone studio situated in the magnificent countryside of Maleny. Her passion and style speak to you through the pieces she creates. The unique way she portrays our AustralianWildlife Characters, using the raku style firing, an ancient japanese form of firing clay with a European flair. Each piece is glazed and is able to live happily inside or out. Her work has been sold to lovers and collectors, both nationally and internationally and she is currently represented at Seaview Gallery, Caloundra, Secrets of the Lake, Montville and Peace of Green Gallery Maleny, a co-operative gallery, where she has been a member since its conception in 1993. She is now sharing a lifetime of experience and knowledge with us through her Fried Mudd web site, her grounded and funny portraits are now available online.
