David Probyn - mixed media painter
David uses mostly, pastels, oils and acrylics. He has a fascination with light and shadow and how they interact with each other and adopts the classical realism style. He has an interest in a variety of subjects including portraiture, seascapes, land and streetscapes, marine art and stillife.
David is a member of The Pastel Society of Australia and collaborates with fellow artists, Christopher Blake, Larien Sloan. His favourite artists are, Rembrandt, Dali, Daniel Green, Turner and Australian artists like Frederick Mc Cubbin, Arthur Streeton and Bret Whiteley.
David has sold numerous works throughout Australia, England and Korea.
,David first took an interest in art at the age of five and started painting at the age of seven. At the age of 16, David started to paint with oils and did a Commercial Art course which was completed by correspondence.
He finally settled on the Sunshine coast at Mooloolaba, living in a caravan, doing portraits and seascapes from which he made a living.
David had a 24 year break from art to raise a family. Today, he paints from his studio at Witta.
