Having come to watercolour painting as a later avocation, I am all the more passionate about enjoying it. It has been a natural progression from years of apprenticeship with composition in photography, colour and design in silk painting and reflection as a teacher of the history of art.
Following Sydney classes in drawing concurrent with lessons from New South Wales watercolourist Anne Lopez, I have studied under well-known Blackall Range watercolour artist Diane Somers-Cook for the last three years. I have sort out workshops by some of the best watercolour artists in Australia: Ross Paterson and Lorraine Lewitzka. I also enjoy the bold attention both wood and lino cuts.
Working from my studio in Flaxton, I have entered the Maleny Art Awards and the Kenilworth Art Competition and have participated in a number of local exhibitions on the Range and in Brisbane.
I seek the mercurial in watercolour by assiduously applying the art and skill of watercolour painting and how often do the ‘water’ and the ‘colour’ conjure wonder and surprise! Then I celebrate the light that glows from a place beyond.
I cannot not paint...
