Lyn Reading Lyn is recognised as a well respected professional artist and tutor with 29 years experience. Born in Brisbane, she grew up in an artistic family on a sheep station in Western Queensland where she showed early promise, winning art prizes at school and at country shows. In 1981, Lyn began her studies at TAFE at the same time joining Brisbane's Northside Creative Artists. The following year brought about a move to the country, along with her husband and two daughters, settling north of Toowoomba where she soon established herself in her passion for art. Lyn has undertaken many workshops by notable tutors since 1983. In 1986 she trained under botanist and botanical artist Dr Gillian Scott at USQ in Toowoomba, whose influence is now apparent in her fine botanical and wildlife art. During her career, Lyn was invited to exhibit at EXPO 88 and as a result, has sold numerous pieces of work to collectors in Australia, Canada, UK, Germany, New Zealand, Egypt and Malaysia. She has held a number of successful private and joint exhibitions, has been commissioned and has sold work in galleries throughout Queensland and interstate. Lyn has more recently been involved in a touring Wildlife Art Exhibition which made it's way throughout the UK in 2003. In 2007 she provided the art content for the Sunshine Coast Literary Association's Bird Calendar. Lyn derives great pleasure in passing her vast knowledge on to her students. Her practice as a teacher is based on a respect for a student's right to develop their own style and rejects the notion of cloning students in her own image. Contact Artist |
