Karen King - Artist and Teacher Karen King is an award winning artist with 16 Years painting experience, she has been teaching painting and drawing on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and surrounding rural districts for the past 9 years and continues to hold classes and regular workshops at her home studio in Landsborough and at various rural venues. A published artist she has co-authored a painting book with good friend and fellow teacher Megan Bice and along with the book she has also had several of her paintings published by an internationally distributed magazine. Karen is also a member of Chroma Australia Pty Ltd's TAPP (Teacher and Artist Partening Program). Coming from a commercial teaching environment in her early years has given Karen many of her teaching skills giving her the ability to teach people of varying painting levels even those who have no previous painting experience. Teaching and painting are Karen’s passions and her philosophy is that you do not need to be “gifted” or have a “natural ability” to create beautiful art. Painting is a teachable art form and Karen can teach you how to achieve your goals at a pace, which best suits, your ability. Painting is a passion and no matter if you want to paint for pleasure or professionally you will need some help along the way and she is there to assist you in your painting journey. To limit yourself to one medium is like driving a car with one hand so no matter if it is oils, acrylics, watercolour or pastels Karen takes up the challenge. Teaching and working in all styles and mediums and experimenting with new ideas and products is certainly changeling but produces a creative and productive environment and opens up new horizons. Karen has classes on weekdays, weekends and evenings with regular workshops and specialty days. She also holds “Kids Art” classes during school holidays and is Blue Card accredited.
