Lindsay Muir - Wildlife Sculptor Born 1964 Stanthorpe Qld After formally training at the University of Southern Qld, Lindsay traveled and worked in potteries both in Australia and overseas before owning a gallery in Montville “Clay Illustrated” where he showcased his own work. During this time he further developed his skills and went on to exhibit work in Galleries all over Australia and in Japan. Lindsay has created wildlife sculptures for many galleries, exhibited with wildlife art groups and acquired many commissions for national parks. He has a unique ability to bring clay to life. When creating a new piece Lindsay will start with the clay making the background, then gradually build up the scene with branches, vines, leaves, etc. The creatures are then nestled carefully into place, taking advantage of hollows and textures that emerge as the clay is worked. The pieces are coloured with underglazes, and then kiln-fired to 1100 C. This gives his sculptures a permanent vibrant finish that brings the piece to life. The innovative children’s picture book “Green Air” produced by Greater Glider Productions is illustrated using 3D dioramas by Lindsay and is written by Maleny Author Jill Morris. Living in Maleny with his family, Lindsay works from his home studio and is able to liaise with clients on a personal level. He is available for private or corporate commissions. “Working with clay is a way of life and without it I would not be who I am.” WORKSHOPS 2010 2Day Clay Sculpture Workshops with Lindsay Muir at his Witta Studio.
